Medium-density housing in Christchurch City Centre

The 15-unit apartment development was among the first to be completed within the ‘Four Avenues’ after the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. Boffa Miskell worked with the developer from the start of the project, initially preparing concept options for the location of built form on the site and then developing documentation for the resource consent, and urban design panel submission. Visual simulation images were used as part of the consent package and to illustrate the proposal to Christchurch City Council’s Urban Design Panel, which supported the proposal.

Having helped gain resource consent for the development, Boffa Miskell prepared Medium Density Housing Development in Christchurch construction documentation and administered the implementation of the landscape work, which was completed in 2013.

The development benefits from large north-facing courtyards for ground floor residents and balconies on the upper floors; and adds to the inner-city urban fabric of Peterborough Street. At the rear, covered car parking is surrounded by generous garden areas, and a communal bbq space for the building residents. The completed development was well-received by the market, with all apartments being sold in a short period of time in 2013, some prior to completion of the building work.
