Te Pātukurea | Kerikeri-Waipapa Spatial Plan wins the 2026 Nancy Northcroft Award

The New Zealand Planning Institute’s supreme award for excellence in planning.

The Nancy Northcroft Award is awarded every year at NZPI Conference and recognises creativity, innovation, quality and the extent to which best practice planning process and practice, including sustainable management is promoted.

This year's winner is Te Pātukurea | Kerikeri- Waipapa Spatial Plan, by Far North District Council, Beca and Boffa Miskell. This project is a 30-year, non-statutory spatial plan for the Kerikeri–Waipapa area that sets out how the place should grow and evolve over time to work well for people now and for future generations.

The project also won the NZPI Best Practice Award for Strategic or Non-Statutory Planning.

Boffa Miskell planner Jaimee Cannon and urban designer Jane Rennie accepted the award with project team members from Beca and Far North District Council.

This is Boffa Miskell's fifth Nancy Northcroft Award.

2021: Planning for Residential Amenity: Wellington District Plan Review; in partnership with Wellington City Council.

2018: New Plymouth District Plan Review (specifically the "Building a Digital District Plan" initiative). Boffa Miskell provided content, data assessment, and project management.

2013: Ngāti Rangitihi Iwi Environmental Management Plan; a joint project with Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust and Bay of Plenty Regional Council.

2010: Wairarapa Combined District Plan; alongside Masterton, Carterton, and South Wairarapa District Councils.
