Kaimātai Hauropi | Ecologist
Kaiarataki | Professional
My background is in marine ecology with a Master's Degree in Ecological Sciences. My master's project looked at integrating mātauranga Māori and Western science to fundamentally inform our understanding of shellfish populations in the Waihī estuary (Pukehina). I am a confident marine surveyor in both intertidal and subtidal environments.
Other areas of interest include terrestrial ecology, including vegetation assessments in accordance with council significance criteria, protection lot assessments, and terrestrial fauna surveys.
In addition to marine and terrestrial ecology, I am an aspiring freshwater ecologist with experience in fish relocation/salvage and state of the environment surveys.
