The landscape design responds to two drivers - movement and place - to create a network of laneways that connect the buildings and offer a range of experiences to users. The design prioritizes pedestrian flow and aims to create an intimate environment as part of daily commutes. The plaza space at the Halsey Street frontage has been carefully designed to welcome and celebrate the moment of arrival into the precinct. The paving material used in Tiramarama Way will be extended into the new plaza to encourage the flow of pedestrian activity.
The proposed materials will be selected from the precinct’s common palette, including concrete paving and furniture with accent areas of natural stone. The design delivers simple yet quality public laneways and spaces with layers of texture and detail to express the character and reveal some of the stories of the landscape and cultural history. Planting will add to the amenity value and character of the spaces. The design for the exterior areas of Site 6 will reflect the benchmark for streets and public spaces established in adjacent areas.
Boffa Miskell was the landscape architect and worked with the team from investigation and concept design, through to the detailed design completion and construction.
