Optimising the visitor experience through interaction and education

Boffa Miskell was engaged by Karori Wildlife Sanctuary Trust to prepare a masterplan for the Sanctuary which is now called Zealandia.

Several small projects were identified in the masterplan and constructed. These include a floating pontoon walkway, heritage interpretation and native fish interpretative tank, and rationalisation of walking tracks in the lower valley.

In the upper valley, a viewing platform, and covered seating and assembling area have been constructed. Other features include bridges which replace culverts, and a swing-bridge connecting popular tracks across a sub-valley.
