Argyle Solar Farm is expected to generate electricity for up to 8,000 homes.

The Argyle Solar Farm project proposes the installation of approximately 60,000 solar panels across 54 hectares of land adjacent to Manawa Energy's existing Argyle Power Station in the Wairau Valley, which is part of the Branch River Hydro-electric Power Scheme (HEPS).

Boffa Miskell prepared the Landscape Effects Assessment, including visual simulations of the proposal from nearby public roads. The proposed site contains no significant ecological features such as wetlands or indigenous vegetation and is set well back from the nearby State Highway. The solar farm will connect to the National Grid using the existing Branch River HEPS substation and infrastructure.
