As a highly experienced resource management practitioner who has specialised in urban and transport planning, I have led and managed projects for public and private sector clients. With over forty years’ planning experience, I have an excellent working knowledge of the Resource Management Act and related legislation including the Local Government Act, having held several senior management positions with the former Auckland City and Auckland Regional councils.
I have been involved in a diverse range of projects, including the development of strategic planning documents, preparation of plan changes and variations, plan submissions, resource consent applications, policy and discussion papers and site assessments. I’m currently seconded to the Department of Internal Affairs to lead the Growth and Land Development work stream developing the National Transition Guidelines to assist the new Water Services Entities.
I worked with the Tūpuna Maunga Authority and assisted with the development of the strategic planning framework for the management and development of the Ngā Tūpuna Maunga o Tāmaki Makaurau (the ancestral mountains of Auckland). This included the development of the Tūpuna Maunga Integrated Management Plan (IMP), Tūpuna Maunga Strategies and now the Individual Maunga Plans.
Most recently I have assisted in the co-ordination of the preparation of the draft Ngā Tapuwae ō Mataaho (Auckland Volcanic Field) nomination for Inscription on the World Heritage list.
I am a certified Independent Hearing Commissioner with Chairs accreditation. Over the last 12 years, I have chaired and been on numerous hearing panels to hear submissions and determine applications for a variety of plan changes, notices of requirements and resource consent matters involving regional and district land use activities, subdivision and regional discharge activities. I am a member of the Auckland Urban Design Panel, the Institute of Directors, and a current trustee on the Northbridge Lifecare Trust.
I am the Managing Partner for the Auckland office, and and former shareholder Director.
