I am a qualified urban designer with a landscape architecture background. I have worked extensively across the the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand | Aotearoa, in both private and public sectors.

Spatial planning and master planning are my strengths. I relish the combination of technical leadership to achieve effective land use, built form and transport integration, alongside the soft skills of workshop facilitation and engagement processes, to manage long-term change. I have been the lead masterplanner for the international award-winning Milford Opportunities Project (Stage 2) Masterplan, a multi-faceted, tourism-based project.

The challenges of creating places for people within large, complex projects also motivate me. The Canterbury earthquake rebuild offered unique opportunities collaborate within design teams on local, contextually based projects at an international scale. I have been urban design lead and / or assessment roles for several Blueprint anchor projects, including Parakiore (Metro Sports Facility), Te Kaha (Canterbury Multi Use Facility) and Christchurch Cathedral Reinstatement.

I have a strong urban policy and project assessment background, including council and Environment Court hearing experience. I am a member / convenor of the Christchurch Urban Design Panel, a CPTED practitioner, and an approved Independent Urban Design Expert for resource consent certifications by Christchurch City Council. Award-winning design guidance projects that I have led cover medium density residential, crime prevention, landscape design and urban laneway themes.
